Bolt secures largest ever athletics contract

USAIN Bolt, Jamaica‘s sprint king, has earned an extended sponsorship contract with sporting goods company Puma AG until the end of 2013, making him the world’s most highly sponsored runner.

Although the terms of the contract were not released, Puma chairman and chief executive officer Jochen Zeitz said Bolt would be “the best paid athlete in track and field history.”

Bolt leads Ja Home at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, USA — Double world record-holder Usain Bolt led a Jamaica Gold team of runners from his Racers Trach Club to a World leading 37.92 seconds to win the USA vs The World’ 4x100m race as the 116th Penn Relays Carnival ended at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.

Running for the first time in the United States since he set his first world record at the Reebok Grand Prix in May 2008 and first time at the Penn Relays since 2005, Bolt got the baton just ahead of the USA Blue team and cruised to an easy looking win as he was timed in a blazing 8.79 seconds.

Usain Bolt Pens £2-M (US$4M) Book Deal

JAMAICA’S triple Olympic and World Championships gold medallist Usain Bolt has inked a book deal with HarperSport, valued at a whopping £2 million. According to a report published by insidethegames, the two-book deal, which was announced yesterday, will include an autobiography shortly after the London 2012 Games.

Lightning seems to strike twice in many ways for Usain Bolt. Breaking the 100m world record at a major championship, the Olympics in Beijing, China, in 2008, and doing the same a year later in 2009 at the World Championships in Berlin, Germany. Check.

MONTE-CARLO, Monaco (CMC) – Jamaica’s phenomenal World and Olympic sprint champion Usain Bolt is set to enjoy a whopping US$500,000 payday for competing in the 100 metres in South Korea later this month.

Bolt is expected to tackle the shorter sprint on September 25 at the Daegu Pre-Championships Meeting.

BERLIN — Usain Bolt was honored by the city of Berlin by receiving an original segment of the Berlin Wall — nearly three tons of it.

The Jamaican sprinter, who broke world records in winning gold medals in the 100 and 200 meters, was presented with the piece of wall at a small ceremony Sunday, the final day of the world championships.

The 12-foot high section will be delivered to Bolt’s training camp in Jamaica. Continue reading

Jamaica’s Usain Bolt sets a new 100m world record yesterday in Berlin.

BERLIN, Germany:

A race billed as a showdown featuring the world’s three fastest men ended in a complete rout inside the Berlin Olympic Stadium last night.

Jamaica’s Usain Bolt blasted the men’s 100 metres world record into the stratosphere with an amazing run of 9.58 seconds at the 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics.
