The top 10 living Jamaican artistes have amassed some US$90 million (J$7.7 billion) in net worth, equivalent to the annual export earnings from bauxite or sugar based on data from an online media report released last week.

Neville Garrick is a Jamaican-born Los Angeles-based graphic artist, photographer, filmmaker, and writer known for penning A Rasta’s Pilgrimage: Ethiopian Faces and Places.

Best known for working with Bunny Wailer, Peter Tosh and creating the art work for many Bob Marley album covers, his love for the arts has led him to also work with Burning Spear, Steel Pulse and many others.

Years later, Neville Garrick has passed on his legacy to his son Nesta Garrick, who has worked on a number of local and international projects to date.

Distant Relatives tops Billboard Reggae

The Marley names continues to dominate the Billboard Reggae Albums chart for this week.

The name accounts for three of the albums on this week’s top 10. Leading the list of Marleys is Damian ‘Junior Gong’ Marley, whose collaboration, Distant Relatives, with US hip hop artiste, Nas, continues to hold on to the No 1 spot after 13 weeks on the chart. Distant Relatives is also charting on other Billboard charts. On the Top 200 it holds No 93; No 18 on the R&B /Hip Hop Album charts and No 11 on the Rap Albums charts.

Nas ‘n Marley beat Rolling Stones in chart

Distant Relatives, the joint album by rapper Nas and deejay Damian Marley has out charted the Rolling Stones to secure the top 5 position on the Billboard 200 album chart whilst also topping the Hip Hop and Reggae album charts for its debut week.

The album recorded the fifth highest sales in the US according to this week’s chart released yesterday by Billboard–regarded as the music bible.
