Distant Relatives tops Billboard Reggae

The Marley names continues to dominate the Billboard Reggae Albums chart for this week.

The name accounts for three of the albums on this week’s top 10. Leading the list of Marleys is Damian ‘Junior Gong’ Marley, whose collaboration, Distant Relatives, with US hip hop artiste, Nas, continues to hold on to the No 1 spot after 13 weeks on the chart. Distant Relatives is also charting on other Billboard charts. On the Top 200 it holds No 93; No 18 on the R&B /Hip Hop Album charts and No 11 on the Rap Albums charts.

The King of Reggae, Bob Marley holds two spots. Legend: The Best of Bob Marley and the Wailers is at No 5, while, B is for Bob holds the No 6 spot after 53 weeks.

Reggae’s most popular artiste in the US for the summer, Gyptian, remains at No 2 this week with the album, Hold You, which entered this chart three weeks ago. The 2010 edition of the popular series, Reggae Gold featuring Various Artistes is at the third spot, with Jewish Reggae act, Matisyahu, in fourth place with the album Light, which has been on the Billboard Reggae chart for 50 weeks.

US-based act, Rebelution holds on the the No 7 spot this week with their project, Brighter Side of Life, followed by The Disney Reggae Club featuring Various Artistes at No 8.

This week’s Reggae chart top 10 is completed by Major Lazer with Lazers Never Die at No 9, and Paula Fuga’s Misery’s End, which makes its debuut on this chart.
